Khoobsurat Actor Ranjit Chowdhry Passes Away
A noted actor of the Bollywood industry has said his final goodbye. Ranjit Chowdhry, who starred in famous films like Khoobsurat (1980), Khatta Meetha (1978) and Baaton Baaton Mein (1979) died at the age of 65 on April 15, 2020
He was the son of well-known theatre personality – Pearl Padamsee and step-son of Alyque Padamsee. Ranjit Chowdhry made his debut in 19788 with Khatta Meetha which also starred his mother.
The news was shared by his half-sister Raelll Padamsee who took to social media to confirm the demise. She wrote: “For all those who knew Ranjit, the funeral will be held tomorrow and a gathering to celebrate his life n share his stories on May 5th. With love, Raell.”
Not Just A Bollywood Actor
The Bollywood actor had been staying in the United States since 1980. He not only proved his maverick in the Bollywood industry but also played various roles in US shows. He appeared in the famous show The Office as Vikram. He also worked in Prison Break.
Ranjit Chowdhry was also writer and wrote the screenplay and acted in Deepa Mehta’s Sam & Me. The play later won an honourable mention at Cannes in 1991.
Reportedly, Ranjit Chowdhry was also nominated for the best performance by an actor in a supporting Role for his role as Rocky in Deepa Mehta’s film Bollywood/Hollywood at the 23rd Genie Awards.
Twitter Mourning The Death
As soon as the news broke, many eminent personalities expressed their shock and sadness through social media.
“This guy made magic out of nothing, filling paper thin roles with so much depth,” tweeted actor Poorna Jagannathan.
Ranjit Chowdhary not only won the hearts of Bollywood fans but also worked amazing in Hollywood. The industry has truly lost a gem.
