Hyundai I20 N 2020: It's Not Going To Be Your Usual I20
The South Korean auto company Hyundai has almost finished the pre-production of its most powerful variant of i20 – Hyundai i20 N 2020. The final product will be ready to launch by the end of this year. The i20 N will have a 204hp, 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine. With the engine this big, the all-new i20 N will be the most robust i20 yet.
Delving deep into its features – i20 N will come up with a 7-speed DCT gearbox. The gearbox will give the driver two modes to choose: Manual mode and a Sport mode. Though it is not officially confirmed yet, auto geeks are speculating that the car will only come up with a variant of 6-speed manual mode in India.
Whether the Indian car lovers will get only the base modal or the upgraded one, it will only be revealed in August. By providing a torque of 260Nm, the car will make the SUVs insecure on the road. Before i20 N, the 204hp was provided by Hyundai only in its costlier segment, like Veloster.
A teaser was released by Hyundai a few months ago. Sneakily packed into the video of the standard i20, the Screen grab of new i20 made auto geeks go wild.
Judging by the looks of it, the new premium hatchback will be a little more sporty than older models. If you compare it with the earlier variant closely, the bonnet looks slightly raised. The roof also seems a little wider.
The changes in the design that are officially confirmed are- a changed front fascia with a restyled grille. Broader tire and larger alloy wheels will make the car look totally different from the standard version. Apart from a significant update in the exterior design and engine, the internal technology has also been given an upgrade. There will be two screens, each 10.25 inches long- for the purpose of music, navigation system and the digital instrument cluster
Recent reports coming from the auto industry revealed that the production of almost every car company in India was nil in April. If this production-vacuum don’t affect the launch of new i20 N, we can expect to see the beast in August 2020.
August could be a happy month for car lovers as companies will be taking covers off from many new cars in almost every segment. Tata will be giving a fierce competition to i20 N’s launch, while the rivalry between the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the Toyota Glanza will keep continuing.
