In a press release, Manish Sisodia announced that private schools can only charge the tuition fee during the lockdown. Furthermore, no private school can increase the fee without the permission of the government.

In the video conference, he could be seen saying:

“We have got several complaints about schools hiking fees and also levying charges like transport fee, which is not even being utilised during the lockdown. No private school will be allowed to hike fees without seeking permission from the government. Schools also cannot charge beyond the tuition fee,”

He also added that no school can ask for three months fee. Rather, they should only collect the tuition fee for one month. Also, every student has the right to be included in the online class system irrespective of fee payment.

Sisodiya, who is also the Education Minister in Delhi, also shared the information on twitter:

A notification issued by the Directorate of Education (DOE) also issued the same guidelines to schools. It also added that the schools should also not stop the salaries of the teaching and non-teaching staff and rather “arrange the funds in case of any shortfalls from the society or trust.”
