It has been more than five months since the coronavirus pandemic began its destruction. The virus that can be traced back to China’s Wuhan has now grappled the entire world.

Currently, more than 2.2 million people have been infected with the novel COVID-19 as per Johns Hopkins University. The death toll stands at 154,219, but it keeps on changing every passing day. These numbers fluctuate and can even be smaller due to the underreporting.

In the wake of this pandemic, here are some of the latest developments that have been occurring across the world.

US: Trump Backs Anti-Lockdown Protests

For now, the United States of America is one of the most badly affected regions in terms of the pandemic. The region has recorded more than 37000 deaths, which is higher than any other nation

In such a backdrop, the US President Donald Trump is supporting the protestors who are rallying against the lockdown. Some people in Minnesota, Michigan and Virginia are demonstrating against the stay-at-home orders by the state.

While the main concern in America should be about enough supplies, looking at the rising number of coronavirus cases, the President took to twitter in supporting the protestors.

When asked by the reporters, Trump said: ““These are people who are expressing their views,”

 “I see where they are. I see the way they work it. They seem to be very responsible people to me.”

Interestingly, as per The White House coronavirus guidelines,   social gatherings in groups of more than 10 people should be avoided. The demonstration at the gathering in Minnesota was quite large.

Japan:  Health System May ‘Break Down’ As Cases Surge

While the country was able to control the spread in the initial stage, it is now facing severe issues. The doctors of Japan have warned that the health system may collapse if the cases keep on rising.

As per the officials, it is hard to treat patients in emergency rooms due to extra burden.  Till now, more than 200 people have died in the country. More than 10,000 cases have been reported so far.

China: Wuhan Raises Death Toll by 50 percent China is being accused of covering up the severity of virus outbreak after Wuhan, the city where coronavirus originated, has updated its list of COVID-19 death toll. The city has raised the figures by 50% adding 1,290 fatalities.

The total number of coronavirus infections in China was 84000. The virus also had a huge impact on the country’s economic that shrank for the first time in decades.

On Friday, the officials released a statement saying that the revised figures were the result of new data gathered from multiple sources like funeral homes and prisons which were not reported earlier.

Germany: Lockdown Brings Coronavirus Outbreak in Control

Assuring news amidst all this is coming from Germany. The country’s Health Minister Jens Spahn said that the COVID-19 outbreak is under control since the number of recovered patients is higher than those affected by the virus. The infection rate has also dropped t0 0.7.

So far, the country has reported 3,868 deaths and 134000 cases of infection. During the pandemic, country’s network of diagnostic labs has been praised internationally for their rapid response.
