Baba Ramdev Launches Coronil Drug For COVID-19, Claims 100% Recovery
Yoga guru Baba Ramdev has claimed that his Ayurvedic medicines company Patanjali has created a medicine to cure Covid-19. Talking to the media on Tuesday, the Yoga guru said that the medicine has shown 100% positive results. The medicine made by Patanjali is called “Coronil and Swasari Vati.”
It comes as a whole kit containing Coronil, Swasari Vati, and Anu oil. Though Baba Ramdev is claiming that the medicine will surely work, people have found a reason not to trust it yet.
As per the media reports, the corona kit will be available at Rs. 545 having a dose of 30 days.
Talking to the media in a press conference, Baba Ramdev said, “The whole country and the world was waiting for medicine or vaccine for corona. We are proud to announce that the first Ayurvedic, clinically controlled trial based evidence and research-based medicine has been prepared by the combined efforts of Patanjali Research Centre and NIMS.”
Testing And Results of Coronil Kit
In the press conference, Baba Ramdev said that Coronil contains Ashwagandha, Giloy, Tulsi and more than 100 other compounds. Baba said that Coronil has been tested in two stages.
The first test was performed in Delhi, Ahmedabad and many other big cities. In this clinical test, Coronil was introduced to 280 patients, and all of them recovered in one week. In fact, Patanjali has claimed that 69% per cent of all patients were recovered in the first three days.
The result data of both tests would be released in the next few days. Until then, people will have to take Patanjali for its words. And that’s where people have started to question the medicine.
No independent body or peer doctors have seen the test results. Claiming the efficacy of medicine without peer review is unorthodox in science research.
What Does The Government Have To Say On It
Ayurvedic medicines are regulated in India by the AYUSH ministry. And ICMR regulates the COVID-19 research and medications. Both these bodies have distanced themselves from Patanjali’s Coronil.
When asked by the media, AYUSH ministry spokesperson said that only ICMR can review any COVD-19 medicine, so AYUSH ministry does not have any say in this. And when journalists went to the doors of ICMR, it said that it could not say anything about Ayurvedic medicines, so the media should go and ask the AYUSH Ministry.
In the recent updates, the government has asked Patanjali for the details on its COVID-19 medicine. Further is has asked the company not to advertise the product until it is examined.
While this report is being written, India has registered 4.5 lakh cases of COVID-19. The toll has risen up to nine million cases worldwide. In this situation, even an unchecked claim of medicine seems like big hope to people.
