Swiggy launched alcohol delivery to West Bengal after Jharkhand and Odisha

Alcohol delivery has been in the debate for the past few weeks. Delivery platforms like Swiggy took the chance and started alcohol delivery in various cities. After Jharkhand and Odisha, the delivery platform has now launched alcohol delivery in a new state.

On Thursday, June 4, 2020, Swiggy started home delivery of alcohol in Kolkata and Siliguri of West Bengal. Now, the company plans to extend the operations to other 24 cities across the state.

Talking about the step, the company’s spokesperson said to media, “Building on our successful launches in Jharkhand and Odisha we will now be enabling safe home delivery of alcohol in West Bengal. Starting with Kolkata and Siliguri, we will expand our services to 24 other cities across the state.”

The company is using its best technology along with proper safety measures to ensure secure deliveries. Swiggy has also partnered with various trusted retailers after verifying their licence to process the online orders. It is also training the delivery partners and retailers to make the process easy and smooth.

Alcohol Delivery: Things to Keep In Mind

Not everyone can buy alcohol through Swiggy. The company has some conditions so that only adults get the order.

Here are few things you need to know before ordering your alcohol online:

• Mandatory Age and User Verification: The company asks for compulsory proof for age and user identification. For that, you will have to upload a selfie and a valid picture of your government ID proof while ordering the alcohol.
• Unique OTP: Every order will have a unique OTP that must be provided by the customer at the time of delivery.

• Limited Delivery: There is capping at the order quantity. This will make sure that customers do not buy too much alcohol breaking the state law.

If you stay in Kolkata or Siliguri, you need to click the “Wine Shops” category to order the alcohol. If the option is not available, update your app and start ordering.
