Lockdown 3.0 Rules: Everything you need to know

Not more than two days were left at the end of the national lockdown that the Ministry of Home Affairs announced further extension. The lockdown, which was supposed to end on 3rd May 2020, will now continue till 17th May (Lockdown 3.0) as per the new guidelines.

However, lockdown 3.0 will be different from the previous ones. It will come with a slew of relaxations in the lockdown guidelines.

Here are the top 10 points that everyone should know about the third phase of nationwide lockdown:

1. The country has been divided into three zones; Red, Orange, and Green zones based on the number of the COVID cases. The Red Zones (hotspots) will have the strictest rules while they will be comparatively easy in Orange and Green Zones.
2. Senior citizens, persons with co-morbidities, and children below age 10 to stay at home except for health purposes.
3. Places like malls, gyms, sports complexes, bars, auditoriums, entertainment parks, and PVRs will remain shut after May 3. However, shops selling meat, electricians, IT repairs, motor mechanics, plumbers, couriers, DTH, carpenters, and cable services will be allowed with certain restrictions.
4. Private offices can run with 33% of their strength even in the Red Zones.
5. Some salons and parlors may open in residential complexes after May 3.
6. Trains, metro, inter-state bus, and flight services will stay suspended. Some Green Zone areas might see the beginning of 50% of bus services with social distancing rules.
7. Movement of people for all non-essential activities is prohibited between 7 pm and 7 am in all three zones. Any social, religious, political, sports, cultural gatherings are also prohibited.
8. In Red Zones, the movement of vehicles is allowed in certain cases, but with just two passengers besides the driver. Pillion-riding is not allowed for two-wheelers.
9. In rural areas, all industrial and construction activities, including MGNREGA work, are allowed.
10. Sale of liquor, paan, gutka is allowed with not more than 5 people following the social distancing at the store.

Earlier, the government had announced that it would allow the movement of migrants, tourists, and students to their hometown. Special buses and trains have been started by the government.
