Another Blow For Bollywood: Rishi Kapoor Passes Away At 67

While people are still mourning on the death of veteran actor Irrfan Khan, another blow for bollywood. Rishi Kapoor died on Thursday at the age of 67 in a hospital in Mumbai. He was admitted to the HN Reliance Hospital yesterday as his health started to deteriorate.

The veteran actor was battling cancer for the past two years. He was being treated for the same in the US since 2019. After getting treatment from the US, Rishi Kapoor returned to his home in Mumbai last September. Amitabh Bachchan, with whom Rishi Kapoor has done many films like Amar Akbar Anthony and Coolie, wrote on Twitter about his friend’s death, “He’s GONE ..! Rishi Kapoor .. gone .. just passed away .. I am destroyed !”

These days, Mr Kapoor was famous for being active on Twitter, calling out people to be safe during times of Coronavirus.

Coming from a family of cinema artists, Kapoor learned acting from his father, the showman Mr. Raj Kapoor. His first film was Mera Naam Joker, released in 1970. Not just the film was a superhit, Kapoor was also given a Filmfare Award for the same.

The first film in which he acted the role of an adult was Bobby. Released in 1973, the film was a superhit and set a benchmark for upcoming romantic movies for youngsters. After that, Kapoor gave a number of blockbuster hits like Chandani, Nageena, Karz, and Bol Radha Bol.

Even after his health starts deteriorating with serious ailments, Kapoor never gave up on acting. His last works in cinema were Mulk, 102 Not Out, and the latest being The Body starring Emraan Hashmi. He had also announced a future project, a remake of Hollywood film The Intern in which Rishi Kapoor had been the main actor with Deepika Padukone as film’s female lead.

Not just Bollywood starts, national leaders are also mourning on the death of the legendary actor. Rahul Gandhi wrote on Twitter, “This is a terrible week for Indian cinema, with the passing of another legend, actor Rishi Kapoor. A wonderful actor, with a huge fan following across generations, he will be greatly missed. My condolences to his family, friends & fans all over the world, at this time of grief.”

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also took to Twitter. He said; “Anguished by the passing away of noted film actor Rishi Kapoor. He carved a special place in the hearts of his fans with his inimitable style and performances. My thoughts are with his family and fans in this hour of grief. Om Shanti,” he tweeted.
