Know How Ola Is Offering Helping Hand in The Times of Corona

No doubt that coronavirus pandemic has almost brought the whole world to a stop, but there are still some who are combating the outbreak unconditionally. Be it individuals like healthcare professionals and police officers or even organisations like India Post, everyone is trying to offer their help.

Adding its name to this list, Ola has taken commendable steps to offer its services.

Recently, it has partnered with the Delhi state government to provide free rides to the people. The ride-hailing company will serve citizens in need of mobility support for non-COVID medical care, including check-ups, chemotherapy and other critical situations like injuries.

A statement was released on Saturday to confirm the partnership. “Ola is providing convenient, reliable and safe transport services for all non-COVID medical trips such as scheduled check-ups, dialysis, chemotherapy and for immediate medical needs such as injuries, amongst others,” the statement said.

Ola also took to Twitter to announce the collaboration.

An Old spokesperson also talked to the media and said, “We are grateful to the Delhi Government for this collaboration and the opportunity to enable mobility support for the state’s healthcare system amidst the ongoing crisis. Access to healthcare, especially for non-COVID related emergencies, is becoming a major challenge in our cities.”

Cabs Turned Into “Mini Ambulances”

Ola also remarked that they would ensure that all the cabs are equipped with protective gear like masks, gloves and sanitizers. Furthermore, the earmarked cabs will be operated by trained drivers following all the sanitary measures as per the guidelines of the Ministry of Health.

Moreover, these mini-ambulances will be provided for free. Whoever needs mobility support for non-COVID care can dial 102 and a cab will be allotted to them by the Ministry of Health.

Other Partnerships and Initiatives Interestingly, this is not the first time that Ola as partnered with a state government in India. Earlier, the company had partnered with Karnataka’s Ministry of Health and Mumbai’s Municipal Corporation (BMC) to ferry medical staff, healthcare workers and paramedical staff from homes to hospitals.

In addition, Ola has also introduced “Ola Emergency” category to offer transportation to and from 1000+hospitals in 15 cities. The service is available in cities like Gurugram, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Vizag, Nashik, Varanasi, Indore, Bhopal, Ludhiana, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Patiala, Mohali, Rourkela and Bhubaneswar.

As far as donation drives are concerned, the company has launched “Drive the Driver Fund” under its social welfare arm, Ola Foundation. Through the drive, the company looks forward to gathering funds for the welfare of cab drivers and their families.
