Chrome Users Alert! Goggle Has Updated Your Browser With A Security Fix

Google has sent its users a notification about a significant update in its web browser. The world’s largest used web browser, Google Chrome, was updated by Internet search giant Google on Friday, April 17, 2020. In the latest update of version 81.0.4044.113, a significant security bug is fixed.

Though the users of Windows, Mac, and Linux are notified about the recent update, the exact details of the bug are yet to be shared by Google.

In its official Chrome blog, Google said about the bug details, “Access to bug details and links may be kept restricted until a majority of users are updated with a fix. We will also retain restrictions if the bug exists in a third-party library that other projects similarly depend on, but haven’t yet fixed.”

How to check your version of Google Chrome:

1. Go to the top right corner in your Chrome browser.
2. Click on the three vertical dots there.
3. A drop menu will be opened, click on the Help option.
4. Click on the first option- About Google Chrome.
5. A new tab will be opened where you can see your current version.

How to update your Chrome to the latest version:

1. Follow the same procedure of checking your Google Version as mentioned above.
2. Instead of just checking the text, click on the update button.
3. A file will be downloaded, and your browser will be automatically updated without asking any new administrative rights permission.

Since the dawn of 2020, Google is rolling out new updates regarding Chrome’s security and privacy features. Google announced on January 14, 2020, that it would begin pushing out the third-party cookies within the next two years. The process is supposed to be done on in many phases as a single jerk in the third-party cookies policy can shut down many businesses (such as small scale companies that depend on advertisements based on such cookies).

As a part of this third-party cookie phase-out policy, Google had made some changes. But, earlier this month, it rolled back the changes made in Chrome due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Google Chrome has more than 2 billion active users across all platforms like Windows, Mac, Linux, and Android. Any change made in the browser will change how these users experience the world wide web.
